A 27-year-old man has appeared briefly in court accused of murdering a popular Perth DJ and event promoter whose body was found in his flat last month.

Victor Rene Amaya appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday over the death of 41-year-old Jaime Rodolfo Fernandez on July 16.

The victim's body was discovered three days later when police forced their way into his home on North Beach Drive in Tuart Hill after neighbours reported they had not seen him for days.

Amaya was not required to plead to the charge and was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on August 31.

Mr Fernandez was born in Chile and moved to Australia in 1995.
