A man has been arrested on the roof of a western Sydney unit block after a Grand Theft Auto-style crime spree.

Just after 10pm on Monday it's alleged the 20-year-old rammed his car into a Holden Commodore stopped at a red light in Guildford then drove into a nearby BMW before crashing into a parked car.

The man then fled on foot before punching a random 18-year-old man in the face and breaking his nose, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, the man was hauling himself from a second storey balcony onto the roof of a unit block, where he was arrested.

He's been charged with multiple offences, including drink-driving. The man has been remanded in police custody and will face Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday.
