Man kept in custody over Qld unit stabbing

A man accused of stabbing another man at a Gold Coast unit complex has been remanded in custody.

Matthew Peter Weston, 32, is facing charges of wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm over the alleged attack on September 17.

Police allege a 47-year-old man was stabbed several times when he answered the front door of his Southport home.

Weston was remanded in custody when he had his case mentioned in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old man previously charged with attempted murder and entering a dwelling with intent over the incident had recently had his charges withdrawn, police said on Wednesday.

Weston's case will be next mentioned in court on November 17.
