Police are appealing for witnesses after a 35-year-old man was shot while sitting in his car in Perth's south.

The victim was gunned down in his vehicle in Tucker Street, Medina, at about 11pm on January 5.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rockingham officers are appealing for information about a white Holden Commodore sedan containing four men and a woman driver which was seen in the area before the shooting.

The 2006 to 2008 sedan was fitted with mag wheels and a boot spoiler, police say.

Investigators believe the vehicle was involved in a disturbance hours earlier near the intersection of Tucker Street and Cowcher Way West.
