A man's body has been discovered at a home in Sydney's southwest in what police say are suspicious circumstances.

A crime scene has been established at the Buist Street residence in Bass Hill following the discovery about 11.20am on Friday.

Police have been scouring the area for clues.

The man, who is believed to live at the share home with three others, was last seen alive on Thursday night, they say.

"He was found by another resident at the location. It's a shared rental property," Detective Chief Inspector Glen Fitzgerald told reporters at the scene.

"We haven't ruled anything out yet ... we are still very early in this investigation."

The man's body is yet to be formally identified.

Police believe the man is aged in his 60s.
