Margot Robbie has become the bookies' hot favourite to star in the next James Bond film.

The Australian actress, 26, is tipped for a role in the next 007 film, which will be the 25th in the franchise.

According to Paddy Power, the star is 12/1 to land the coveted role opposite the British spy, followed by Emily Blunt at 16/1.

Model and Gone Girl star Emily Ratajkowski is currently third favourite at 22/1, while Harry Potter actress Emma Watson is at 40/1.

Robbie has a rather jam-packed schedule at the moment and has spent the last few weeks promoting Tarzan and Suicide Squad.

The role of James Bond himself is currently up in the air, with Daniel Craig expected to announce his departure from the franchise this year.

Big name stars thought to be in the running include Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Aidan Turner and James Norton.

Elba recently appeared to rule himself out of the running, telling Good Morning America:

“If I'm really honest, man, I think I'm too old for that, I can't be running around in cars and ladies and martinis – who wants to do that? It sounds terrible!

“If it were to happen, it would be the will of a nation, because there's not been talks of me in the studios about any of that. But everywhere I go, people want that to happen.”

Hiddleston also seemed to dispel speculation last month, saying: “I’m sorry to disappoint you, everybody. I don’t think that announcement is coming.”
