A young Launceston man missing for more than three weeks is no longer believed to have left the island state, police say.

Making a fresh appeal for public information to coincide with Missing Persons Week, investigators on Monday said Michael Hamlyn, 20, who is also known as Miguel Williams, has not been seen since July 10 when he was riding a black Suzuki motorcycle.

"The information that Michael may have been interstate has been explored and discounted. We're pretty confident now that he's still in Tasmania," Senior Sergeant Craig Fox said.
