A young child who is believed to have been taken from Brisbane by her father may now be in South Australia, authorities say.

The Australian Federal Police are urging the public to help them find 18-month-old Aubree Leigh Best, who went missing from Logan on December 12.

She is now believed to be with her father, Jordan Leigh Best.

The location of the pair is unknown but the AFP says they could be near Logan in Queensland, or may have travelled interstate, as the 33-year-old father has family in SA.

The Federal Circuit Court of Australia has issued a recovery order allowing all federal, state and territory police to recover Aubree.

She would then be returned to her mother Ashleigh Gibson in Brisbane, who the AFP says is "desperate to have her returned".

The court has also made pictures of Aubree and her father available to help the community potentially spot them and report sightings to authorities.
