Two people are fighting for their lives after a series of crashes in Queensland.

A 27-year-old had to be dragged from his 4WD when a passing motorist saw the vehicle had crashed into a drain on the Capricorn Highway west of Emerald around 5.30am on Tuesday.

He was taken to Emerald Hospital with critical head injuries.

Two cars collided Monday evening in Goodwood, south of Bundaberg, leaving the 32-year-old female driver of one car in a critical condition and the 19-year-old male driver of the other car in a serious condition in Bundaberg Base Hospital.

The crashes come as police issue pleas for driver safety following a horror weekend on Queensland roads, which led to the deaths of seven people.
