A new shark warning and beach closures have been made for Perth's northern suburbs after a spate of sightings.

The latest warning and closure, issued by the Department of Fisheries on Friday morning, is in place for beaches, dive spots and surf between Mettams Pool and Watermans Bay.

The latest warning follows the closure of beaches in the same area between Scarborough and Hillarys Boat Harbour last week.

There has been an unprecedented 63 shark sightings along Perth's northern beaches since June 6, 53 between Mettams Pool and Watermans Bay with the latest on Tuesday.

"Given the frequency and duration of the recent reported sightings there is a greater likelihood of encountering a shark in this area," Fisheries said.

Two West Australians have been fatally attacked by sharks around Perth this year.
