Mozzies could thrive after SA floods

The mosquito population could take off in South Australia as receding floodwaters and warmer weather create ideal breeding conditions, health authorities warn.

SA Health will work with local council staff in flood-affected areas over the coming weeks to control mosquito breeding on public lands.

"As flood waters recede, pools of water left behind may create perfect breeding sites for mosquitoes,"" SA Health's director of health protection Dr Chris Lease said.
