Murky links hold key to 1990s SA murders

Murky criminal links between a group of men in Adelaide in the 1990s could hold the key to four suspected unsolved murders.

Police believe 16-year-old Juan Morgan was killed in 1992 because he stole a car from a criminal associate and damaged some property.

Two suspects are linked to his death, and are also thought to be involved in the disappearances and suspected murders of Leo Daly, David McWilliams and Robert Pendergast.

Mr Daly, who hasn't been seen since April 1998, was in fear for his life due to drug debts.

Later that year Mr McWilliams was also killed, and police believe that was to silence him from boasting about his own and others involvement in the Daly murder.

The final suspected murder, of Mr Pendergast, is believed to have occurred in 1999 with his disappearance also linked to a drug debt.

Rewards are available in each case, with the investigation now subject to a fresh review as part of Operation Persist - the SA Police Major Crime-led cold case campaign.
