If you thought you knew everything about Britney Spears' infamous meltdown of 2007, think again.

In new documents from Britney's lengthy legal battle with former manager Sam Lutfi, the California Court of Appeals ruled the star to be "a drug abuser" during 2007 and 2008.

The just-released paperwork, which was filed by Britney's team in a 2015 decision to the appeals court, outlines the full extent of the 34-year-old's drug abuse issues.

It's revealed that Britney's drug habit got so out of hand that she slept in a parking lot in October 2007 – the same day she lost custody of her two young sons to Kevin Federline, TMZ reports.

Sam Lutfi's team are set to take Britney's deposition for his ongoing case against her, in which he's trying to collect supposedly unpaid commissions from his time as her manager.

The court notes that Britney and Sam met in 2007 as she was going through a public meltdown (most notably, the head-shaving incident of February 2007), a divorce, and difficulties with her parents.

"In addition, she was struggling with drug abuse," the judges said.

Sam agreed to be Britney's manager as long as she quit using drugs, even asking for the right to use drug sniffer dogs to check up on her. But things got worse from there, resulting in Britney's car park sleeping incident.

Luckily, she got her life back on track after that dark period. Her father Jamie was appointed her conservator, and she was committed to a psych ward in January 2008.

But her battle with Sam wages on. Britney has placed three restraining orders against him over the years, while her parents have maintained for many years that Sam "supplied" her with drugs.

Sam sued Britney's mum Lynne for defamation after she published her book, , but the case was thrown out. However, Sam was still able to continue his breach of contract lawsuit against her daughter.
