A ninth person has been charged over a Sydney birthday party that turned deadly when a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed.

Teenager Aidan Smith was killed, and five males and one female were injured during a brawl at an 18th birthday party in Ryde, in Sydney's northwest in August.

An 18-year-old man was charged with affray on Thursday, bringing the total number of people charged over the brawl to nine, police say.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on November 16.

No one has yet been charged directly over Aidan's death.
