No Lions coach no concern: Recruit winner

They are currently without a coach but The Recruit winner Matt Eagles has no concerns about the direction Brisbane are headed after signing with the AFL club.

In fact, that's the reason why he chose the club.

The 26-year-old won the reality TV show on Wednesday night, and chose to accept a deal with the Lions, ignoring interest from Collingwood and GWS.

"I think Brisbane, their next few years will be massive," Eagles told SEN Breakfast.

"I think they're only going to go up from here. I want to be a part of that."

Eagles, who lives in Brisbane, was told by Lions list manager Peter Schwab that the club's lack of ruckman depth meant he had a better chance of playing AFL sooner at the club.

He has been signed to a category B rookie contract, but said it wasn't a concern the club was yet to confirm who would replace the sacked Justin Leppitsch as coach for 2017 and beyond.

"Whoever it is, I'm sure they'll help me as a player," he said.

"What really got me was the direction that they'll be going next year will be only up from here. I'm looking forward to that."
