A NSW female carer has been charged with allegedly producing child abuse material in the state's New England region.

An ongoing investigation by the Sex Crime Squad had led to a Glen Innes home being searched on Tuesday, where a 47-year-old woman was arrested, police said.

The woman's been charged with two counts of a carer allowing a child aged between 14 and 18 to be used for pornographic purposes. She's been refused bail and is due to appear before Armidale Local court on Wednesday.

It follows the search of another home in the same town in April when police seized electronic storage devices allegedly containing child abuse material and a 44-year-old man was charged with six child sex offences.
