NSW man charged over threatening letters

A 71-year-old Sydney man has been charged with sending "threatening" and "offensive" letters to people and organisations for the past 22 years.

He was arrested by the NSW Police Terrorism Investigation Squad at his Villawood home on Thursday and accused of sending 184 letters to high-profile targets since 1994.

Police continue to search his home but stress the investigation is not terrorism-related.
