A man accused of raping and murdering a baby girl in the state's central west two-and-a-half years ago has pleaded not guilty in a NSW Supreme Court.

The 38-year-old man, who appeared via video link and cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to the charges of having sexual intercourse with the 11-month-year-old girl and killing her in Mandurama near Bathurst in 2014.

According to police the man brought the baby to Blayney hospital in April 2014 saying she had suffered a head injury from a trampoline fall.

Despite receiving CPR the girl died a short time later.

The man was charged with murder a few days later after a post-mortem examination and investigation by police.

A four-week trial has been set down to begin next June in Bathurst.
