A 29-year-old man charged with murdering another man in western Sydney will remain behind bars.

Michael Hadler was arrested on Friday night after the body of Brian Hamilton was found at Mr Hamilton's shared rental home in Bass Hill earlier that day.

Hadler, of Fairfield, did not appear for a mention of his case in the Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

There was no application for bail.

Mr Hamilton, who was last seen on Thursday night, was believed to be in his 60s and was discovered by a housemate at about 11.20am on Friday, police say.

Hadler's case is due to return to court on September 28.
