A 69-year-old woman has been hit and killed by a elderly driver as she used a pedestrian crossing in central NSW.

The woman was walking across the main street of Mudgee when she was hit by an 84-year-old female driver just before 10.30am on Thursday.

She died at the scene and the elderly driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing, police said.

It follows another fatality on NSW roads earlier in the day when a 69-year-old man was killed after the flat-bed truck he was driving collided with a car in the NSW Southern Highlands.
