NSW Police are inviting homeless people to walk in their shoes.

Old police boots are being donated by members of the force as part of a homeless week charity drive.

The drive kicked off on Monday, with dozens expected to be turned in before the drive closes on Saturday.

NSW Superintendent Allan Sicard said the leather boots are comfortable and have plenty of life left in them.

Mission Australia, which partnered with NSW Police for the drive, said quality boots are vital for the health of those sleeping rough.

"This is one way we can ease the suffering of those who are homeless, particularly during the colder winter months," Mission Australia NSW director Ben Carblis said.
