NSW south coast truck fleet defective

A NSW south coast truck company has had defect notices issued on all but one truck in its entire fleet.

A police inspection was carried out on Tuesday at a Gerringong truck company after one of its vehicles was involved in a serious accident last week.

Police issued 28 defect notices on the fleet of 29 for issues including brakes, leaks, tyres and chassis issues, and two trucks had non-compliant speed limiters that allowed them to travel over the 100km/h speed limit for heavy vehicles.

Assistant Commissioner David Driver said the defects were potentially fatal as they made braking in emergency situations impossible.

"This is simply not good enough," he said.
