Officer assaulted during Sydney pub arrest

A NSW police officer has been knocked to the ground and had drinks poured over him during as he tried to make an arrest at a croquet summer party at Bondi.

Officers were called to the Royal Croquet Club event near Bondi Pavillion on Saturday evening after two men began arguing and refused to leave.

A 25-year-old man allegedly assaulted an officer, knocking him to the ground before the crowd became rowdy and started pouring drinks on him.

The alleged offender was subdued by other police and has been charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest and is due to face Waverley Court on Monday.
