Australian online shopping club Ozsale has been fined $500,000 for selling children's sleepwear without proper fire safety labels.

Ozsale admitted in the Federal Court that it sold more than 200 garments that failed to meet mandatory safety standards.

Consumer watchdog the ACCC, which brought the action, said it is crucial that parents know how flammable their children's nightwear is.

"Children can suffer serious burns when the nightwear they're wearing catches fire," ACCC Deputy Chair Delia Rickard said.
