A man has been charged with a slew of offences over a crash that killed two of his passengers near the NSW-Queensland border.

The 20-year-old P-plater was driving with five passengers on Mount Lindsey Road, Woodenbong, when his car veered off the road and crashed into an embankment in September last year.

All of the car's occupants, aged between 16 and 22, were rushed to hospitals following the crash.

A 17-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man, who were airlifted to Brisbane hospitals, died in the days following the accident.

The 20-year-old P-plater driver was arrested and charged on Wednesday with multiple offences, including two counts of dangerous driving resulting in death, driving an unregistered car, allowing passengers to not wear seatbelts and using a driver's seat with no seatbelt fitted.

His licence has been suspended and he is due to appear in court in February.
