Under-fire Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew received the dreaded vote of confidence from chairman Steve Parish on Tuesday, saying his job was 100 per cent safe.

Palace sit 14th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone, after ending a run of seven games without victory by beating Southampton last weekend.

"It is totally safe, but in saying that, every manager is under pressure," Parish told Talksport radio.

"You need to win football matches. It is a very binary industry and we are all under pressure. You can't lift that pressure from people - that is no more constructive than putting it on them.

"We don't have to have that conversation because Alan knows the game, he knows where he is and he knows the things he has to do."

Parish said this season was shaping up to be one where all teams in the bottom half of the table will take points off each other.

"It is very, very flat at the bottom," he said. "If you look around us, if we are in crisis then there are a lot of clubs in crisis."
