Clive Palmer says he'll try to track down his elusive nephew, Queensland Nickel sole director Clive Mensink, before his own Federal Court grilling continues next week.

Mr Palmer spent more than seven hours under public examination in the Federal Court on Friday as liquidators quizzed him about the management of Queensland Nickel before it collapsed earlier this year.

They also want to question Mr Mensink but haven't been able to find him to serve him with a summons.

Mr Palmer had initially said his nephew was in Berlin when they spoke last week.

But later the former federal MP admitted his likely location was further north.

"He's up towards the Arctic as I understand it ... on a ship," Mr Palmer told the court.

"Well he might be in the Arctic. He could be in the North Sea."

Liquidators asked if Mr Palmer would call Mr Mensink on his mobile over the weekend and ask when he would return to Australia.

"I could ask," said Mr Palmer, who added he'd let them know about his success or failure when he resumes giving evidence on Monday.
