Parents ignoring trampoline safety: poll

Almost 80 per cent of parents are ignoring trampoline safety guidelines by allowing more than one child to jump at a time.

New Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne research, based on a survey of 2000 parents, has found more children are now jumping on a trampoline (79 per cent) than riding a bicycle (68 per cent) and two-thirds of children using trampolines are unsupervised.

But only one-in-two parents know the first aid required to treat a head injury, broken or dislodged tooth or unconscious child, the survey released on Wednesday says.
