A pair of rare parrots were stolen in an alleged year-long crime spree by two people in Victoria.

Police say the ring neck parrots were stolen along with safes, cash and jewellery in a series of burglaries in the Mansfield area since June last year.

The parrots were returned to their owners shortly after they were found by police.

Fast food stores, businesses, sporting clubs and medical centres were targeted in the burglaries.

A burnt-out car found in Wangaratta has also been linked to the burglaries.

A man, 50, and woman, 38, were arrested at a Piries home on July 26.

The man has been charged with 36 offences, while the woman has been charged with criminal damage by fire.

Both will appear in the Mansfield Magistrates Court on September 21.
