PETA urges Frydenberg to go vegan

Fresh from ruling out an emissions intensity scheme, Josh Frydenberg is being asked to do his bit to cut greenhouse gas emissions by going vegan.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have sent the environment minister a vegan Christmas hamper, complete with vegan plum puddings, candy canes and other treats as well as a vegan starter kit.

"With plenty of hot air coming out of parliament about the government's plan to review its climate policy, we thought you might have more luck reviewing your diet in the new year instead," the animal rights organisation wrote to Mr Frydenberg.

"We know you were probably expecting a lump of coal for Christmas, but we thought a vegan starter kit and a hamper with some vegan goodies would be much more practical, given the task ahead - not to mention tastier."

A vegan diet means avoiding all animal products, including eggs and dairy.
