A plane has been forced to make an emergency landing in Western Australia's Pilbara region after a mechanical failure.

An Aviair Cessna 208 made a forced landing near the Fortescue Metals Group Solomon Mine on Wednesday morning while en route to Karratha.

A spokeswoman for Aviair said all the people onboard were fine and there was no damage to the aircraft, but there would be an investigation.
