Police on their way to apprehend a robber dressed as Spider-Man on Friday have got into trouble themselves, crashing their police cruiser.

The police car had lights and sirens on when it went through an intersection at Stafford Heights in Brisbane's north and collided with a 4WD just before 7am.

The crash wrecked both vehicles as well as damaged two other vehicles in the vicinity, however, fortunately no one was hurt in the incident.

The robbery saw a bandit dressed as the famous superhero threaten a staff member of a Rode Road newsagents with a gun, but the staff member refused and the wannabe Spidey fled empty-handed in a silver sedan.

Investigations into the crash and the robbery and continuing.
