A Darwin supermarket is the latest victim in a spate of ram raids in the Northern Territory.

Around three youngsters caused significant damage when they drove a stolen Toyota Camry into a roller door at the IGA on Smith Street just before 1am on Monday, police said.

The youngsters failed to gain entry to the store and nothing was stolen.

The car was later found abandoned in The Gardens area three hours later with tyre damage, and shortly after a nearby white Nissan was stolen.

The incident comes after officers were forced to abandon several high-speed chases of stolen cars driven by juveniles allegedly involved in separate ram raids in Darwin, Palmerston and Alice Springs last week.
