Police probe Hobart bat heist

Police are investigating the theft of eight cricket bats worth more than $7000 from a Hobart sports store.

In the week following Australia's dismal Test loss to South Africa at Bellerive Oval, the bats, including a Gunn and Moore Icon Custom worth almost $1200, were stolen from the Greg Chappell Cricket Centre.

"If you've been offered a cheap cricket bat ... or know someone who has, please contact police," Inspector Stephen Burk said on Friday.
