Police are appealing for a man to contact them after the death of a woman on Gold Coast street on Sunday.

Janine Sandra Witt, 43, died on a Highland Park road on Sunday evening, although police won't confirm how she died.

Police believe a man driving a white Ford Territory arrived with Ms Witt at the scene and attempted to resuscitate her but departed before police could speak to him.

Detective Inspector Mark Thompson is urging the man to come forward to assist them with their investigations.

"I've got no reason to suggest the public should be concerned," Det Insp Thompson said.

"The suggestion to us from witnesses is the male may have been attempting to perform CPR on Janine shortly before her death.

"It would appear he also waited at the scene before the arrival of emergency services ... we're just asking him to come forward and clarify what we've found out through our investigation."

The man is described as approximately 170cm tall, with a proportionate build, fair complexion and short hair.
