Popa coy on Bulut despite better training

Western Sydney striker Kerem Bulut has earned praise for his improved output in training, but coach Tony Popovic remains coy on whether he'll travel to Perth.

Bulut was mysteriously dropped from the matchday squad hours before last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Central Coast, Brendon Santalab handed a start in his place and youngster Lachlan Scott a spot on the bench.

Popovic later threw down the gauntlet to the 24-year-old, revealing he wanted more from him during team sessions.

This week Bulut, who started the Wanderers' first three games but is yet to score, is back in the squad and apparently performing on the training pitch again.

Yet the coach would not confirm whether he'd give the controversial forward another chance to break his drought against the Glory at nib Stadium on Sunday.

"Kerem's been back training this week and he's training better than what he did last week, so that's a good improvement," Popovic said.

"We've still got two sessions to go, there's still a bit of work to do today and tomorrow to see who will travel."

Bruno Pinatares, another last-minute omission, has also been named in the squad though the Uruguayan midfielder has not played since being subbed off an hour into the Wanderers' round-one 4-0 Sydney derby thumping.

The Wanderers face a tough trip west in the knowledge individual errors have cost the seventh-placed team two wins and a spot in the top four.

Two weeks ago they settled for a 2-2 home draw with Newcastle after allowing a 2-0 lead to slip through their fingers, before last weekend committing the same crime to draw 1-1 with the Mariners.

"At the moment isolated mistakes are being punished," Popovic said.

"We have to make sure that if that happens again we've done well enough to still be able to win the game.

"Slowly but surely throughout the year, I'm sure you'll see less and less mistakes."
