South Africa's fast bowlers will get their final tour-game tune-up on Friday ahead of the looming Test series against Australia.

Pacemen Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada will all feature on the final day of the two-day match against a South Australian XI in Adelaide.

The Proteas batsmen made light work of the inexperienced South Australian bowlers on Thursday, posting 489 all out.

Opener Dean Elgar top-scored with 117 retired, captain Faf du Plessis made 102 retired and Quinton de Kock struck 99.

Temba Bavuma (43) and Vernon Philander (41 retired) also were amongst the runs in South Africa's final warm-up game before the first Test starts next Thursday in Perth.

Du Plessis' classy century heartened the tourists, who know he will face the brunt of Australia's bowling attack, which traditionally target the opposition captain.

"I definitely feel that he will be aware of it," Bavuma said of the renowned Australian tactic.

"It's not his first tour of Australia. It's not his first time playing against Australia.

"So he will definitely know what challenges will come his way and I definitely think will be able to handle what comes his way."

The only South African batsman yet to spend meaningful time at the crease in the two tour games is opener Stephen Cook, who has failed in three consecutive innings.

Cook was dismissed for a second-over duck on Thursday, following his scores of 5 and 12 against a Cricket Australia XI last weekend in a pink-ball day-night match.
