Queensland schoolchildren have broken the Guinness World record for the largest practical science lesson.

There were 2895 students from 53 primary and secondary schools in the state involved in the 30-minute science lesson, which included two experiments using magnets, at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre on Friday.

An organisation in South Africa held the previous record of 2102 students.
