A former teacher at an elite Brisbane private school has been cleared of all charges relating to allegations he molested three students.

Kevin Jaey Robert Crisp, 50, pleaded not guilty to a total of five charges, including indecent treatment of a child under 12 and maintaining a sexual relationship with a child.

A Brisbane District Court jury retired on Monday at about 12:30pm, returning about an hour later to find him not guilty on all counts.

An emotional Crisp embraced supporters in the public gallery after the court adjourned.

The Crown alleged he'd indecently touched and had an unlawful relationship with a total of three students.

But his defence barrister Craig Eberhardt urged jurors to resist an "atmosphere of hysteria" surrounding the issue of child abuse when considering his client's fate.

He went on to characterise the evidence relied upon by the Crown as "vague" and "inconsistent" and accused prosecutors of using imprecise terms when describing the alleged conduct to put a "salacious gloss" on the material.

After the verdict, Judge Clive Wall thanked jurors for their time and discharged Crisp.
