The Queensland teenager charged over the hoax calls that sent a Cairns primary school into lockdown on Monday, has been charged over a similar incident at a school last week.

Police allege the 17-year-old boy made two calls to the school in Gordonvale, south of Cairns, just after midday on August 11, telling them explosive devices were on the school grounds.

The school was declared safe after an extensive search and following an interview with the teenager on Wednesday, he was charged with two counts of falsely stating the presence of an explosive device.

He was also charged on Tuesday after making phone calls threatening to attack Balaclava State School on Monday.

He will return to Cairns Magistrates Court on September 1 to face the fresh charges.
