The weather system that caused havoc in South Australia is expected to be considerably weaker as it brings thunderstorms to Queensland.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Adam Woods says the deep low is extending an upper trough and cold front that will push through Queensland on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a line of thunderstorms.

Winds of about 90km/h are anticipated, with Brisbane expected to be hit later in the evening and the weather to clear up on Friday morning.
