Queensland LNP 'not taking Lockyer for granted'

Queensland Member for Lockyer Valley Ian Rickuss © AAP Image/Dave Hunt Queensland Member for Lockyer Valley Ian Rickuss Queensland's Liberal National Party opposition says it isn't taking any seat for granted after the retirement of Lockyer MP Ian Rickuss raised speculation about the looming electoral threat from One Nation.

Mr Rickuss, who narrowly retained his seat last year against now Senator Pauline Hanson, announced his retirement on Saturday so he could spend more time with his family after the next state poll, due by early 2018.

"We don't take any seat for granted and we know that we've got to go out hard with policies to represent Queenslanders no matter which seat they are," LNP leader Tim Nicholls said on Monday when questioned about the possibility of losing the seat to One Nation.
