Three Queensland police officers were kicked and punched by a man they were trying to arrest for driving an alleged stolen car.

The man was finally subdued after police used OC spray and tasers during the prolonged struggle in suburban Richlands on Wednesday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital, but it's also alleged he damaged medical equipment in the ambulance.

The officers were given first aid for bruises and abrasions.

The 26-year-old Wacol man is expected to face Richlands Magistrates Court on Thursday to face 18 charges, including four counts of seriously assaulting police.
