A young Queensland woman suspected of murdering her grandfather will be extradited to South Australia along with a friend who's also accused of a role in the killing.

Brittney Dwyer, 19, and her friend Bernadete Burns, 21, are expected to be formally charged with the murder of 81-year-old Adelaide man Robert Whitwell when they are returned to South Australia.

Both faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court today when South Australian police were granted an extradition order.

The pair will face the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Dwyer was stony faced as she faced court over the slaying of her grandfather while Burns appeared anxious.

Mr Whitwell's body was found at his Craigmore home on August 8 and police have since described the crime as shocking, but needed the help of forensic officers to work out just what had happened inside the home.
