Race laws aren't broken: Greens

A fresh push to change racial discrimination laws is a solution in search of a problem, the Greens warn.

Sections of the Liberal Party and some new senators want to scrap section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, which makes it illegal to offend, insult or humiliate a person on the grounds of race.

"What's the problem here? This is one of those issues that is a solution looking for a problem," Greens leader Richard Di Natale said, adding that there was no groundswell community push for change.
