Shane Mumford's giant physical challenge is nothing more than business as usual for Western Bulldogs ruckman Jordan Roughead ahead of their AFL preliminary final.

Roughead said there would be nothing special in the planning as he prepares to go up against the Giants ruckman, who is renowned for his aggression.

One of the keys to Saturday's Spotless Stadium clash will be how Roughead and ruck partner Tom Boyd fare against Mumford.

Roughead was prominent in Friday night's rousing semi-final win over Hawthorn and he will take a month of solid form into the Giants clash.

"You have to be positive and feel like you have that belief," Roughead said.

"It's something we've spoken about internally for a long time now and I suppose it's been a theme for us through the finals - there's no point being out there unless you believe you can win."

Roughead said he would sit down with ruck coach Steven King on Tuesday and start looking in detail at how to play against Mumford.

"Not much changes ... get out there, be as predictable as I can for my teammates and try to get us going in the right direction," he said.

"It's been great working with Tommy the last few weeks and I'm sure we'll go in much the same.

"We'll both look forward to spending a bit of time in the ruck and a bit of time down forward."
