A resident has fled a burning home and two sheds have caught alight in three separate incidents the space of five hours in South Australia.

A Mt Gambier resident was able to escape the flames uninjured but the home was engulfed about 8.30pm, causing $500,000 damage.

Another house was threatened as a nearby shed caught alight in Claredon at 7pm but crews were able to stop it spreading.

A winery in Mount Compass suffered more than $150,000 worth of damage when a fire broke out in two large sheds.

The blaze probably began from embers at a nearby burn-off, investigators say.
