A man who allegedly attacked at least six people in a violent rampage at a shopping centre in Adelaide's north has been granted home detention bail.

Baryea Billy faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday where he was released from custody provided he wear an electronic bracelet and not contact the alleged victims.

He was previously found not guilty of assault over the unprovoked attacks by reason of mental incompetence because he has schizophrenia.

The court is now expected to set a term of mental health supervision for the 20-year-old based on the facts of the case.

The incident, which left a 56-year-old woman in hospital with concussion, occurred at Regency Plaza shopping centre in Sefton Park in May.

CCTV footage showed a woman being attacked and a man being dragged along the floor before a pizza shop owner with a walking stick intervened.

Billy, who appeared by video link, was also ordered to undergo regular drug and alcohol testing and will return to court on January 10.
