The full extent of the damage to South Australia's crops and livestock caused by recent floods will soon be laid bare, the state government says.

About 300 farmers have been affected by the state's floods since last week, including potato, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and cucumber growers.

Assessors from SA's Department of Primary Industries and Regions have begun meeting with farmers to tally the damage and work out how they can assist.
