SBS advertising rules to be revisited

The Turnbull government will have another crack at allowing SBS to be more flexible about airing advertisements.

Parliament in June rejected legislation that would have eased restrictions on the public broadcaster, allowing it to raise an additional $28.5 million in revenue.

Communications department deputy secretary Nerida O'Loughlin foreshadowed the bill's reintroduction, telling a Senate estimates hearing in Canberra on Tuesday: "The minister is considering that. We expect that to be introduced fairly soon".
